e-commerce for the cultural heritage sector Date: Tuesday 2nd March 2009 Time: 09:15 - 17:00 Venue: MLA London, 4th Floor, 53-56 Great Sutton Street, London EC1V 0DG E-commerce has gone from a niche activity of on-line start-ups to an essential part of many organisations income generation streams. More so than ever the public expect organisations to be able to offer electronic transactions. This course is aimed staff or volunteers in cultural heritage organisations who are considering starting e-commerce operations; who want to know what benefits e-commerce can bring to their organisation; or would like to consolidate their knowledge and understanding of e-commerce. The day will cover a number of aspects of e-commerce and how the cultural heritage sector can apply this technology to improve their revenue streams and improve their digital offer to service users. The day will consist of a mixture of presentations, facilitated discussion, and group exercises so delegates will leave with an greater knowledge of the ins-and-outs of e-commerce. The day will include sessions on: * e-commerce and how it is used in cultural heritage sector * How to decide if e-commerce will work for your organisation * Defining the costs and benefits for implementing e-commerce * Planning for e-commerce implementation and strategy * Best practice in e-commerce Delegates will leave the day: * Greater knowledge and understanding of e-commerce * How this knowledge and understanding can be applied so that organisation can plan and implement e-commerce strategies * Confidence to know the potential costs and benefits of e-commerce * Be aware of the way other cultural heritage sector has deployed e-commerce The day will be led by Simon Tanner of King's Digital Consultancy Services at King's College London.
