Posted on behalf of the chair of the British Records Association:

“The British Records Association (“Working for Archives”) continues
vigorously to take forward advocacy for the archives sector in the face of
current financial stringencies threatening service provision both by local
authorities and in the academic world.

Letters of protest have been sent to the Principal of King’s College,
London, and to the Head of the School of Arts and Humanities there, as part
of the ongoing efforts to protect the Chair of Palaeography at the College.
The BRA has also contacted key figures in the London Boroughs of Camden and
Redbridge expressing concern about the draconian cuts now being considered
for archives and local studies in their library services.”
