The Centre for Diet and Activity Research (CEDAR): a UKCRC funded Centre of Excellence in Public Health Research PhD Studentships 2010 We invite applications for PhD studentships in public health research within the newly established Centre for Diet and Activity Research (CEDAR), a UKCRC funded Centre of Excellence in Public Health Research. The Centre is a collaboration between Medical Research Council units in Cambridge and the Universities of Cambridge and East Anglia and is hosted by the Institute of Public Health in Cambridge. We particularly seek candidates interested in the social and environmental determinants of physical activity and dietary behaviour and in population-based, interdisciplinary intervention research in this field. Students will be registered at the University of Cambridge or the University of East Anglia depending on their interests. The studentships within this multidisciplinary collaboration provide diverse training opportunities for all aspects of research and encourage the development of transferable academic and generic skills. Both three-year ('+3') and four-year ('1+3') studentships are available to commence in October 2010. The three-year studentships are for those who already have a Masters degree in epidemiology, public health or another relevant health or social science. The four-year studentships are for those without an appropriate Masters degree who will undertake the MPhil in Epidemiology or Public Health in Cambridge or the MRes in Environmental Social Science in Norwich during the first year of their studentship. The minimum academic requirement for entry is a first or upper second class degree or equivalent. The studentships include college and university fees and a stipend. Full funding is available to UK nationals and UK residents. Partial funding is available to applicants from the European Economic Area (EEA).
