Confirmed Key Speakers:

At the end of the first decade of the 21st Century, in the context of rapid technological change and extensive economic and social uncertainty, the lives and identities of young people continue to be the subject of a broad range of scholarship which is as stimulating as it is important. Bringing together those studying young people from a variety of disciplines and perspectives, Youth 2010 seeks to provide an inclusive and high profile forum for the presentation and discussion of research and ideas. We encourage paper proposals from postgraduates, youth practitioners, researchers, lecturers and professors working in the area from the UK and around the world.

The theme of the conference is intended to be broad and inclusive. Papers may, but do not necessarily have to, address one or more of the following themes:

theoretical conceptualisations of youth / friendships, relationships and networks  /  education and training  /  work  /  families and the domestic sphere  /  locality and community  /  economic hardship  /  criminality and criminalisation  /  media representations  /  use of media and communications (including social media)  /  gender  /  sexuality  /  ethnicity  /  class  /  globalisation  /  public and private space  /  everyday leisure, culture and tastes /  consumption / youth cultural industries / music, style and leisure scenes/subcultures / politics and engagement

Abstracts, of no more than 200 words, should be sent by email to Sian Lincoln at [log in to unmask]  by 28 February 2010 at the latest.

General enquiries about the event should go to Paul Hodkinson at [log in to unmask] or Rachel Brooks at [log in to unmask]
