Dear Colleges, this is a pre-official announcement for a job-opportunity as researcher on a project of the central European programme called "BICY". The main task will be to evaluate the efficiency of different projects aimed at improving bicycle circulation in terms of costs and various indicators, which are yet to be determined. Another task will be to follow and manage the project as partner. This clearly means report-writing and attending relevant meetings and workshops. Here are the skills we ideally expect from a candidate: - Degree in engineering science or economy (requirement), if possible specialisation in transportation - Knowledge in statistical data analyses, model calibration, cost-benefit analyses, discrete choice models - Experience/knowledge of bicycle projects or planning or evaluation - Perfect English in spoken and written (Italian would be helpful but is not necessary) - if possible Experience with international/EU projects, report writing, etc - if possible Experience with software and programming We also prefer candidates who live in countries with a "reasonable" bicycle culture. The project would start in March 2010 and its duration is three years. Work contracts could be extended if there is interest to continue research in this area. The net salary for the first 3 years is approximately 1500EUR/month. There is also the possibility to attend the doctoral programme for free in order to develop a PhD thesis on the research topic.
