Dear Colleges,

this is a pre-official announcement for a job-opportunity as researcher on
a project of the central European programme called "BICY".

The main task will be to evaluate the efficiency of different projects
aimed at improving bicycle circulation in terms of costs and various
indicators,
which are yet to be determined. Another task will be to follow and manage the
project as partner. This clearly means report-writing and attending relevant
meetings and workshops.

Here are the skills we ideally expect from a candidate:
- Degree in engineering science or economy (requirement),
  if possible specialisation in transportation
- Knowledge in statistical data analyses, model calibration,
  cost-benefit analyses, discrete choice models
- Experience/knowledge of bicycle projects or planning or evaluation
- Perfect English in spoken and written
(Italian would be helpful but is not necessary)
- if possible Experience with international/EU projects, report writing, etc
- if possible Experience with software and programming

We also prefer candidates who live in countries with a "reasonable" bicycle
culture.

The project would start in March 2010 and its duration is three years. Work
contracts could be extended if there is interest to continue research in
this area. The net salary for the first 3 years is approximately
1500EUR/month. There is also the possibility to attend the doctoral
programme for free in order to develop a PhD thesis on the research topic.
