There has been discussion concerning the different appelations of the book in England and The United States. The second edition of 1923 for England has a black freize at the top of the front red cloth cover, going round to the spine. This depicts Indian elephants, "dhows" and several boy scouts with their staves, made from bamboo like lathis are. This freize does not bear much relevance to the stories even for the English edition and I wondered if the United States editions had a freize more appropriate to the boys and girls of that country? Can anyone explain why this freize was chosen and its significance if any? With kind regards, Richard H.
