PhD/Postdoc application deadline: January 22, 2010

Place: University of Copenhagen / University of Roskilde, Denmark

Subject area: Media convergence in the cultural industries

Do you want to specialize in media convergence and how it transforms cultural products, as well how they are produced, distributed and
consumed? Do you have an idea for a project relating to convergence in the cultural industries, relevant to developments in Scandinavia? If you
also have competence in this area, as well as the general skills and ambitions required to do a PhD or a post-doc and contribute to the growth of a research group and department, please send a research proposal (400-500 words), a one-page CV, and a writing sample to Associate
Professor Fabian Holt at [log in to unmask], Dept. of Communication, Business and Information Technologies, University of Roskilde, before January 22, 2010.

There are two stipends, and they will be included in a major grant proposal and ultimately depend on a funding-decision in May 2010. The funding period for a PhD stipend is three years and two years for the post-doc.

The research will be conducted as part of a major research project titled Media Convergence in the Cultural Industries in Denmark. The aim
of this project is to examine how the cultural industries in Denmark are implementing and adjusting to digital convergence. The project
identifies and theorizes new models of convergence within broader systems of mediated communication. A key question is how product categories are changing in the large-scale process of convergence that creates similar developments within the cultural industries, but is articulated differently in each industry.

Danish universities are equal opportunity employer institutions.
