The small drawback to this is that the 'official' copies of my thesis, from which this scan will have been prepared, lack to 'Addenda' to 1991 that correct a few errors of fact - notably that 6-inch geological map publication in Lancashire only began in 1867, whereas it should be 1861 - the result of taking a date from the old printed BL catalogue! Happy downloading, everyone! And buy the book version when it eventually crawls into print!! You wouldn't want to download a thesis on a dialup connection (in this case the file is 53MB), but it's otherwise technologically straightforward. The thesis is delivered in scanned PDF format. EThOS is a fairly new service (still in beta) and theses are digitised as they're requested, in many cases for free; Yolande Hodson's 1995 thesis has not yet been digitised but it's entirely possible to request this (and I'm sure somebody will now I've pointed this out): http://ethos.bl.uk/OrderDetails.do?did=2&uin=uk.bl.ethos.261891 Happy thesis perusal, everyone.
