The Information Services Group (Scotland) invites you to its Annual Lecture 2010, to be held in the Board Room at the National Library of Scotland, George IV Bridge, Edinburgh on Thursday 4th February at 17:30. This is the first of what is hoped to be an annual event in which ISG (Scotland) will invite a prominent speaker to talk about emerging issues affecting the role of 'information intermediaries' in libraries, education and elsewhere. This year's speaker is John Davitt, a writer, broadcaster and digital toolmaker. He has worked in the education sector for the past 25 years as an English teacher, senior manager and regional adviser with the EU Flexible Learning Project. As a journalist he has written for the UK Guardian, The Times and The Observer. He has recently developed 'The Learning Score', a visual tool that lets teachers map out and share learning intentions as a graphical event - rather like a music score. His latest project is the open source 'Learning Event Generator' (http://legwork.pbwiki.com), and 'The Rag', an interactive learning tool for the iPhone where you can literally shake up a learning challenge. His new book 'Setting Learning Free - The Difference Engine Runs Again' is being published in Winter 2009. A map for the National Library George IV Bridge building can be found here: http://www.nls.uk/info/locationmap/index.html. There is a charge of £5, payable at the door. Refreshments are included. Booking is essential as only 80 places are available. Preference will be given to ISG members. **Programme** 17.30: Meet at the reception point at the entrance of NLS George IV Bridge.
