***Apologies for cross-posting*** SLA Europe would like to remind you that the deadline for applications for the 2010 Early Career Conference Awards is 31 January 2010. There's still time to apply for this exciting award, which offer the chance of an all-expenses paid trip to the 2010 SLA Conference, which will take place 13th-16th June in New Orleans, USA. Applications are invited from current European library and information science students and new professionals (working in the field for less than five years). For more details ,and how to apply, see http://www.sla-europe.org/awards/early_career/early_career_a.html One of the recipients of the 2009 awards, Annie Richens said 'When I applied for the SLA Europe Early Career Conference Award, I had absolutely no idea what I was letting myself in for. I barely had time to stop and reflect upon them, finding myself constantly moving from one networking event to the next. I particularly enjoyed the international reception, but all provided opportunities to talk to people from all over the world and at all stages of their careers. I have come back from the conference with some new good friends, some interesting ideas to think about and follow up and renewed enthusiasm for my chosen career. I also came back with two cuddly toy pigs, a badge saying "Fear not, I'm a librarian!" and a lot of wonderful memories; this conference was undoubtedly an unforgettable experience' These awards are offered jointly with two SLA Divisions: Business & Finance; and Leadership & Management.
