In the recent Research Assessment Exercise (2008), 90% of our work was evaluated as of international or world-leading quality, contributing to Reading's position as one of the UK’s top 10 research-intensive universities. Our lively and welcoming research culture supports students to achieve excellence in their chosen specialism, and to gain from each others’ expertise. Activities include informal study groups in film and TV, critical theory and practice-as-research for postgraduates, the annual Journeys Across Media (JAM) international postgraduate conference, research training in the Graduate School and a regular series of research seminars by leading experts. We offer specialist supervision in the discrete areas of film, theatre and television research. We also support a variety of inter-disciplinary projects and the department has a strong tradition of practice as research.
