Dear All,
I just tried the new website and it seemed to work fine. Perhaps it was just the traffic flow on the first day.

I submitted the following idea. I will be interested to see how it develops. Let me know if you see it on the site. Perhaps it is already in practice. I will let you know the outcome.

Best,

Lawrence

"Why not collate the traffic accident data on A roads and map this so that GPS systems can show the traffic danger spots on roads?

For example, if we have systems that can show us where speed cameras are located, why not map the hotspots for traffic accidents, especially those involving fatalities, so that people will take greater care.

For example, you could have most roads showing green on a TOMTOM or similar GPS system, but as you enter specific accident areas (there was a list of the top 10 accident roads in the UK) you could see that you are approach a danger area and get the road to show yellow, and then when you enter a particular bad area, it could show red.

At the same time, it could raise a question, on the GPS asking "are you driving safely, there have been x number of fatalities here in the last x years"

If the data is available, you could map this down to B roads and then to local roads.

For people not familiar with the roads, it would help them understand danger spots and it might reinforce to people that they need to slow down or use caution and why."
