I really think we have to
confront these people who are saying, "What, are they wanting to change how we
live?" The earth can no longer afford the rich, and what's different with
climate change is that the rich could ignore poverty because their castle walls
kept it out, but climate change seeps through such walls.
I heard the other day of a
wealthy man who is dying of cancer and instead of spending his remaining days
with his children, has gone to live in Jersey in the hope of dying there so that
the children will inherit the estate with lower death duties. If that's how such
a social class cares intergenerationally about keeping their own line going,
maybe there's more hope for action on climate change ... or maybe not. Sorry
folks, but I gotta laugh or the white coats will turn up to increase my
medication!
