A postdoc position in membrane protein structural biology is available in the group of Dr Susanna Törnroth-Horsefield, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. The position is funded for one year and may be extended up two years depending on the availability of further funding and satisfactory performance.

 

The group is situated at the Lundberg laboratory which contains a membrane protein structural biology research platform with excellent facilities and a stimulating research environment.

 

The research will focus on membrane proteins that are involved in Type 2 diabetes, the most common metabolic disease in the world, in particular the uncoupling proteins (UCP) and transhydrogenase (TH). The work will involve expression and purification as well as crystallisation and structural determination.

 

The ideal candidate has a PhD in Structural Biology, Biochemistry or equivalent and has well-documented experience in protein purification and protein crystallography. Experience with membrane proteins is an advantage. The ability to work in a group is a requirement. Applicants who received their PhD within the last three years will be favoured. The position is available immediately.
