Subject: RE: AAC Hi I think here in lies the challenges ahead of us of partnership working, developing technology services, personalisation and personalised budgets. I suggest liaising with your assistive technology service locally and regional Electronic Assistive Technology Service. There is a spectrum of technology aids out there with the equipment itself becoming increasingly integrated - some of the communication aids becoming integrated with IT and /or mobile technologies. This is some of the work we have started to look at here in Wirral. We don't have the solutions yet but we are starting to talk about the issues and have started talking with our partners. Our service is managed by commissioning. Technology is viewed as a very key element of supporting people in the community. I would suggest knocking on the commissioner's door and start the dialogue. Some areas have communication aids budgets that are NHS funded. We also approach charities, employers and benevolent funds.
