Speakers from Google and Yahoo! Europe will address a major UK conference ‘Rewiring Inclusion: Strategies, tools and techniques to promote barrier-free learning’ in Nottingham on 8 and 9 February 2010.

 

The Association for Learning Technology (ALT) and JISC TechDis are joint organisers of the conference on technology and digital inclusion at the National College in Nottingham, which will focus on the very best and innovative practice in barrier-free learning from UK Further and Higher Education. Alongside an outstanding range of workshop sessions, there will be plenary contributions from leading figures in the commercial and research fields.

 

Google's Julian Harty will speak about the impact that the latest Google products, including Wave, Chrome OS, and Android will have on the environment for learning. Yahoo! Europe's ‘Accessibility Evangelist’ Artur Ortega will outline the Yahoo! approach to accessibility, whilst Dr Dónal Fitzpatrick from the School of Computing at Dublin City University will speak about the contribution that computer science is making on inclusion.

 

During the conference there will also be plenary contributions from accessibility researcher Dr Jane Seale from the University of Southampton, and Peter Hartley, Bradford University’s Professor of Education Development, Alison Mills Head of Assessment for learning at The Manchester College, and James Clay from Gloucestershire College.
