* * * Deadline extended: 31 January 2010 * * * CALL FOR ABSTRACTS ENHR 2010 conference Urban Dynamics & Housing Change Istanbul 4-7 July 2010 ENHR Working Group WS-07: “Social Housing in Europe: Institutional and Organisational Transformations” This working group aims to explore and develop concepts for analysing institutional and organisational change and dynamics in social / affordable housing provision in Europe. Government policies, management reforms and rapidly changing social and economic contexts have placed new expectations on social and public landlords. In addition, policies encouraging affordable housing for home-ownership, partnering with the private sector and/or direct private market provision of affordable housing have blurred the lines between public and private housing activities. The processes and outcomes relating to these changes are the main focus for participants in this working group. Papers on any of these topics would be most welcome with case study material from any part of Europe (especially Eastern Europe and Southern Europe) or indeed from other parts of the world. For the Istanbul ENHR conference we particularly encourage contributions connecting with themes that emerged during previous conferences, the Istanbul ENHR 2010 conference theme or contemporary issues in social / affordable housing provision, e.g.: · The role of social housing in urban dynamics and housing change; · The role of social housing providers in building sustainable neighbourhoods and communities; · The performance and impact of social housing providers; · Social housing governance, democratic anchorage and accountability to residents and neighbourhoods. · Private sector provision of affordable housing; Please note that our working group has so far published a number of special issues in scientific journals based on papers from previous conferences. We are keen to produce new special issues with forthcoming papers and/or an edited volume.
