I am copying in the forum as others may be interested too in this.... In answer to Holly below from Dulwich I have raised this issue already with the organisers of the competition and they told me that the competition is aimed at state schools only and in particular those where the take up of langauges is poor to try and encourage students to take up languages. They told me that they used to allow private schools to pay to take part but not any more. I think that the private schools that offer thriving language departments could do much more to help state schools and I would be keen to do this. These blinkered government education departments would gain a lot by including us teachers in private schools where languages flourish and finding ways that we can work with state schools to improve the take up of languages. Is there a view from SSAT on this ?
