I wasn’t aware that there was any legal position – I have always just binned withdrawn stock, after writing ‘withdrawn’ over the library stamp etc. inside the book. If you are selling old stock I think you need to provide a ‘health warning’, i.e. that it is out of date.

From 18th December, the libraries at County Hospital and Sniperley house are merging to form a new library in the Appletree Inglewood Unit, Lanchester Road Hospital, which it is planned to open on January 11th 2010. Stock and services will not be available from Durham sites during this period.

From December 14th until January 11th, please place your book loan and document supply requests via the West Park or Flatts Lane sites. You will need contact these libraries also to renew loans from Durham libraries falling due between these dates.

Could anybody help me out with a query please?

Does anyone know of the legal position around the disposal of weeded stock items? We currently make these items available in a book sale for our users which is stated in our collection management policy.

With the absence of any current Trust led guidance on this any input would be helpful. I will summarise responses for the list if required.
