I could match Peter K’s comments point for point.  I was taught how to use the other ‘productivity tools’ in the MS suite but not either the MS email product or indeed either the IBM or DEC (remember them?) products which hosted the email systems I used before Bill conquered the world.  We have written the sort of guidance listed for clients over the years but I doubt that they have ever been fully implemented – ‘too much trouble’; ‘reduction in desktop productivity’; ‘you can’t expect young people of the MTV generation to spend time doing that’; ‘I can always find what I want in my mailbox’ etc, etc.  The words ‘sewing’ and reaping should be in there somewhere.

The ‘grumpy old archivists/records managers’ strike again!  I was aware as I wrote the sentence that PK would point out that the spelling difference of ‘practise’ as a verb and ‘practice’ as noun does not apply in the US but when in Rome…
