I stand duly (and pleasantly) corrected... As you say, evidence of a successful bit of email management! Last I had heard about this was that a meeting of the group behind the list in question had vetoed any attempts to manage postings and I certainly continued to receive some that did not adopt the prefix idea after that meeting. As messages of this type are rather sporadic in nature anyway I had just assumed this was a natural lull before the next batch. Like all conventions it will inevitably be observed by some and overlooked (or inadvertently forgotten) by others - but if it saves just a few emails each week then I'll chalk it up as a minor victory, as well as restoring my (only temporarily dented) faith in our profession! :-) Cheers Steve -----Original Message----- From: Archivists, conservators and records managers. I make no claims either for or against the instantaneous nature of email however I had assumed that 20minutes would probably be enough time to leave it before reposting the message. The purpose of the message was to make sure that Steve's assumptions about the professionalism of those on another list were corrected and reflected the actual situation.
