Many years ago after a very long flight, I was confronted by a Japanese border guard who was most distressed that my passport apparently said I was an ‘Anarchist’. After a worrying period of explanation he accepted that an Archivist was something akin to an academic and I was allowed into the country!

 

 

When I started my job here my new name badge was printed stating that I was the 'Croome Project Activist'. It was swiftly changed!
