Subject: Re: Equality and Diversity Committe membership
Hi Anne
As I am new(ish!) in post, I had the job of establishing a new
proactive group to take forward E+D matters within the Academy.
We had the first meeting of our new Equality and Diversity Forum
last week (there hadn’t been anything for over a year, and even then the
focus was specifically on disability) and it was pretty successful I’m
happy to say!
The terms of reference (attached) were accepted with the proviso
that an additional item is added to incorporate the impact we will seek to have
in terms of E+D both within and beyond the Academy itself.
Although we had reps from both the School of Music and the School
of Drama, it was also agreed that we should ask the SU for a rep too. I’m
also going to ask our Welfare and International Student Officer to get
involved.
The membership is now:
Dean of Music/
Dean of Drama (co chairs)
HR Advisor
Academy E+D
Officer (me)
School of Music
– Head of Department
School of Music
– Lecturer
School of Drama
– Head of Department
School of Drama
– Lecturer
Academic Admin +
Support Rep
Finance + Estates
Rep
Academy Counsellor and
Disability Advisor
Marketing Rep
Outreach Tutor
Rep
EIS Rep
Unison Rep
School of Music
Student Rep
School of Drama
Student Rep
+ those
I’ve yet to ask
Hope this helps and good luck!
Best regards
Roz

Subject: Equality and Diversity Committe membership
Morning all,
We are reviewing our terms of reference for our Equality and
Diversity Committee and in particular our membership. We’ve had turnover
in staff reps and low response to ballots when electing staff reps,
particularly in the academic areas. Some feedback has suggested that the role
and purpose of the Committee is perhaps not clear.
We are keen to hear from smaller institutions regarding staff
engagement and E&D Committee membership and would be grateful if you would
share terms of reference. Our aim is to make the work of the Committee
attractive and relevant to all staff in the College and not let it be seen as
an HR Committee.
Any help will be much appreciated!
Thanks
Anne
