I am looking for ideas on positively identifying (on POCT equipment such as blood gas analysers) new born neonates who are taken straight into special care and do not have hospital numbers or NHS numbers. We are happy to edit the hospital number at a later date but need some way of overcoming the problems posed by the possibility of all male triplets born to Mrs Smith who all have the same D.O.B. and no first name.
