Hi Celia,
The logo was designed at the time SEDA was renamed. At the annual conference and ran a session asking members what the name SEDA made them think of and various visualising techniques to illuminate what people felt about the values and spirit of the organisation.
We gave the output from this session to the designers and the logo came from that.
Jill Brookes may have a more detailed answer for you.
It was certainly a design and relaunch where we were concerned to capture the dissemination and caring nature of what we were doing. Green was the overwhelming choice of colour but we decided it had to be deeper hue.

Gosh - it takes me back - I can even remember the shape of the room we were in!

Subject: SEDA logo

HI everyone

I have just had an enquiry from one of the Japanese delegates at last week’s SEDA conference asking about the significance of the SEDA logo.

I have always assumed that it is a representation of a person and a tree, representing growth – but don’t actually know! So is there anyone out there who was involved in the original design or choice of logo who can shed any further light?

Many thanks

Celia
