Chris, there are many specialist disaster recovery companies who can help with this problem, I am sure members can recommend one - off list.

Good luck let us know the outcome.

Subject: Pigeons

All

We have recently discovered that a number of files that we are storing in an out building have been invaded by pigeons and are now covered in a film of muck (I think you all know the correct word). Pigeon muck is notoriously vile, we have been advised to wear white coats and masks when entering the building as there is a risk of disease. Has anyone had experience of dealing with this? Can they be cleaned, they are important financial records? And if they can't be cleaned what would be the correct way of destroying them.

Personally I would torch the lot.
