TRACING, MOTION AND HARMONY

An LKL Maths-Art Seminar
by
Bálint Bolygó
Tuesday 10 November, 6.00 - 7.30pm

Bálint Bolygó is an artist, sculptor and designer based in London. His
work explores the similarity between the artistic and scientific mind,
exploring how both kinds of minds are motivated by the same need to
discover and uncover, and turn resulting ideas into totalities.

He builds kinetic mechanisms that are animated by natural universal
forces. The mechanisms often explore the passing of time, recording
traces of particular events and movements on a surface through the
build-up of complex patterns, and highlighting the connections between
space, matter and time. [See more at www.balintbolygo.com]

The artist will introduce his work through films and slides, and
focussing on the use of simple harmonic motion to generate different traces.
