Job Vacancy - UCL Media Relations Manager

£31,778 - £38,441 per annum

UCL is rarely out of the media spotlight, whether it's the University's Provost giving an interview on higher education policy on the evening news or the latest innovative discovery by one of its world class team of scientists making headlines around the globe. Founded in 1826, we are one of the world's most highly respected research institutions and were rated fourth in the world in the prestigious Times Higher Education - QS World University Rankings 2009.

We are now looking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced media relations manager and are especially interested in hearing from PR professionals with a track record of success in communicating science.

The media relations managers are responsible for planning and implementing media relations strategies on a diverse range of issues, and working to deliver positive coverage of the University. The successful applicant will work with the appropriate international, national, regional and local media to ensure that UCL's key messages are delivered to its range of audiences. They will be expected to respond to a variety of calls on a daily basis, write and edit news releases and press statements, update web pages, organise media briefings and develop and maintain excellent relationships with the media and the UCL community, using expertise and creativity to advise on appropriate media handling whenever necessary.
