Investing in an Uncertain Future:

Planning for Pandemics

Tuesday 17th November

This one day event seeks to bring together speakers from a variety of disciplines to discuss how different methodologies could help inform planning for future pandemics. The day will begin with a presentation from Donny Jack and Joe Griffin from the Scottish Government who are Deputy Directors for Pandemic Flu for the Scottish Government Health Directorates and Scottish Resilience. They will discuss the issues the Government face when planning for pandemics. A number of speakers will then demonstrate how their disciplines can contribute towards planning for such events. Presentations will include contributions from Dr Peter Bennett (Head of Analysis, Health Protection at Department of Health) and Prof Chris Robertson (University of Strathclyde and Health Protection Scotland). Discussion sessions will then consider how future planning can be informed by varying methodologies.

This event is part of the Institute for Advanced Studies programme “Investing in an Uncertain Future”. Further information on the Institute of Advanced Studies can be found at: http://www.instituteforadvancedstudies.org.uk
