Hi Val

I lead a large midwifery research group in Newcastle upon Tyne. The group conduct clinical research (supporting others) as well as leading on their own midwifery research projects. I would suggest you arrange an honorary contract with the NHS Trust where you plan to do your interviews through your university and part of this process will include allocation of a supervisor and facilitation of your ITP form.

kind regards

Debbie

Hi Carol,

I am a midwifery lecturer and we notify our Intention every year, though not technically in clinical practice and have allocated Midwifery Supervisors/annual supervisory meetings.

Subject: Advice on NMC Registration and Midwives Intension To Practice.

Hello everyone,

You are all my first port of call for information on the above prior to LSA and NMC again.

I am a Research Midwife at a University Institution doing a PhD. I am not practicing clinically and am not employed by a Healthcare trust. I will be interviewing women in the course of my research. I know I will need to remain on the NMC register. I have been given conflicting advice whether I need to submit ITP. Especially with what is defined as 'practice'.

Do midwifery lecturers in academic institutions who don't work in clinical practice complete this and have a Midwifery Supervisor.

Are there any other Midwifery Students like myself that have any information on this.

This is a grey area.

Thanks in advance

Carol
