University of Sheffield Department of Germanic Studies Chair in Luxembourg Studies Ret: R07520 Salary: By agreement This is a newly-established post funded by the Luxembourg Government and located in Germanic Studies within the School of Modern Languages and Linguistics, Faculty of Arts & Humanities. The Professor of Luxembourg Studies will provide academic leadership and develop a programme for the teaching of Luxembourg Studies (i.e. Luxembourgish language together with the culture and/or literature of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg). The postholder will undertake advanced research into one or more specialised areas of Luxembourg Studies, pursue funding and develop other academic activities. The successful candidate will also teach and pursue research in areas cognate with Luxembourg Studies, e.g. Germanic linguistics, or German literary or cultural studies. The postholder will foster academic co-operation between the University of Sheffield and the University of Luxembourg, as well as with other relevant institutions.
