Dear all,

The information below is posted on behalf of Sue James at the National Waterfront Museum in Swansea.

THANK YOU EVENT and LAUNCH of the Everywhere in Chains Community Heritage Toolkit.

The event will take place on Saturday 28 November, at the National Waterfront Museum, Swansea, from 11.00 – 16.00.

This is family fun day with lots of art and craft activities plus the Everywhere in Chains Historical Exhibition and Community Exhibition.  We will also be handing out FREE Everywhere in Chains Community Heritage Toolkits which will highlight all the different activities that we did during the project.  The toolkit also contains lots of contacts, workshop ideas and resources regarding enslavement and current issues of exploitation; how to reinterpret museum collections in the light of enslavement and cultural identity. Plus ideas on how individuals, groups, schools and cultural venues can develop their own community heritage projects - on issues such as enslavement, Black history and Welsh heritage. Activities within the toolkit are aimed at young people, older people, schools and anyone in between.

Other activities going on in the day are;

11.00 – 13.00 - African drum, costume and dance

11.00 – 16.00 - Felt making, pottery and Ghanaian print making workshops

13.40 until 14.00 - Refreshments

14.00 – 13.00 - Short Speeches by representatives from Amgueddfa Cymru, South Wales Police, Heritage Lottery Fund plus key note speech by the Heritage Minister, Alun Ffred Jones.

15.00 – 16.00 - How to use the toolkit - Digital workshop with Sue James (a chance to ask lots of questions!)

Please tell your colleagues, friends and family - all welcome!

If you require additional information about the event please do not hesitate to contact me.  I really do hope you can join us for this exciting event - we have all been waiting for it for a long time!

Best wishes
