I'm not sure whether this will overcome the barriers outlined by David
Dillard regarding inaccessibility of the Kindle e-book reader for the blind,
but members may like to know that Kindle have just released a free,
downloadable version for PCs. See the following link:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=kcp_pc_mkt_lnd?docId=1000426311

This makes Kindle and e-books accessible to anyone who can use a computer.
I am quadriplegic but have full access to my PC via Dragon
NaturallySpeaking. So now, I have access to e-books as well! It's very
simple to use. Once a book has been opened, all that is needed to 'turn'
pages is the 'page down' key. When the application is closed and reopened,
the book reopens at the point where one left off reading.

Free, Kindle compatible e-book's can be downloaded from
http://freekindlebooks.org/ (Project Gutenberg)

Both I and my partner would be interested to hear other people's experiences
of using Kindle for PC.
