A question was raised at a recent meeting about our PVP register. The future census will entail people going out to chase up forms. Whilst many of these will be Council staff, some could be temporary staff employed just for this job. Should they have access to data on our PVP register if the house/person they are going to is on the register ? Whilst at the time of visiting they are in fact our agents, once over we would have no control over what they might divulge. I realise this is true of any member of staff that leaves the authority, but wondered whether we should have some sort of statement of confidentiality for them to sign. I suppose this could apply to temporary staff who are only employed once a year to chase up electoral forms..... If we withheld the information and one was attacked, would we be to blame ? Has anyone else considered this ?
