I don't see any denial going on... People just seem to be saying, in the words of a favourite blogger of mine, that It's All More Complicated (abbreviable to IAMC) where class and sport are concerned. And poetry for that matter. I thought Beckett played scrum half, anyway (not sure where I got this notion from).
