I went on a Blackboard System Admin
training course in Amsterdam in 2006 (if I remember correctly). It run for
4 days and was a very good course but cost an arm and a leg as you imagine
and face-to-face courses like these are few and far between. When
asked about training in the UK the answer we get from Blackboard it is
difficult to run training courses in Europe as all their trainers are based
in the US (I got the idea they don't make enough money by the time they
pay the trainers expenses to get over here). Therefore the regional
courses are held in Washington so a bit of an expensive course for us!
A while back they talked about
getting some European based trainers but haven't heard anymore about this.
I think you can pay Blackboard to come to your institution but this
costs an arm and a leg as you can imagine and you have to get a certain
amount of participants. On their annual conferences they do run pre-conference
workshops which are half day or full day courses on various aspects of
Blackboard. You can do online courses but I've looked into them and
even they work out very expensive as you have to pay for each individual
unit and I'm not sure what you get for your money.
I would be keen on finding
a course for two members of staff as well.
