Interestingly, this problem (the cursor jumping around the document) disappeared when I set Word 2007 Options> advanced > cut, copy and paste options [all] to "match destination format". Odd, because you'd think those options only deal with what is in the windows 'clipboard', not other forms of incoming data. But as I said the problem is intermittent, so I could be imagining this potential 'cure'. MikeP
