Hi all,

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner in Canada has posted a wepbage on
"Privacy and the 2010 Olympics." It might be of interest to some of the
surveillance studies community, particularly those attending the upcoming
Vancouver workshop. The links are:

English: http://www.priv.gc.ca/resource/olympics/index_e.cfm
<http://www.priv.gc.ca/resource/olympics/index_e.cfm>
French: http://www.priv.gc.ca///resource/olympics/index_f.cfm
<http://www.priv.gc.ca///resource/olympics/index_f.cfm>

The web page was developed in cooperation with the B.C. Office of the
Information Commissioner. it explores the preservation of privacy in the
context of Olympic security, and provides links to further information. In
particular, the page contains a fact sheet developed by the OPC, which
outlines the privacy challenges associated with the Games, and sets out
guiding principles intended to help security officials to carry out their
duties in a way that does not unduly infringe on the privacy rights of
individuals.

Cheers, Kevin
