We have been away over the weekend, so I have just seen this e-mail. If anyone is free to drop everything at a moments notice, the Kipling event at Milner Court sounds fascinating!
With best wishes to all,
Jane Keskar

Subject: Kipling's visit to open Milner Court

Dear Madam,

I wanted to let the Kipling Society know that the Junior King's School, Canterbury is celebrating the 80th anniversary of its move to Milner Court in Sturry on Monday 5th October 2009 with a special Kipling Open Day. We shall be recreating the visit of Rudyard Kipling to open Milner Court in memory of his friend Lord Alfred Milner.  "Kipling" played by an actor will arrive in a 1925 Rolls Royce similar to the one he used. We shall have some lectures on Kipling's life and the students are being encouraged to recite his poetry in a competition. There will be a special themed luncheon and an Edwardian tea in the great Tithe Barn where Kipling spoke to over 600 guests 80 years ago. The students will also be dressing up in period costume.

If anyone from the Kipling Society would like to visit for the day, they would be most welcome. Please let me know if there is any interest from the society.

With kind regards

Peter Wells
