Apologies for cross posting.

Dear All,

Thanks to all who provided input in the DROID 5.0 proposals collection process. The wiki proved to be a useful platform for collecting information on how DROID 5.0 can be enhanced and where current functionality could be improved. We are currently evaluating and prioritizing the proposals for the next round of DROID development. Development begins in November 2009 and will run for six months.

We have now opened up a second stage of public consultation. The main section of the DROID 5.0. wiki is now a forum for stakeholders to provide information on file format issues they may be having, here: http://droid5.yourwiki.net/wiki/DROID_5.0

The proposals collection process highlighted some of the problems users have been having with format identification giving examples of formats and how we could improve DROID output. The format issues wiki attempts to collect as much information about these issues as we can.

Within this second stage of consultation we are asking you for a description of the problems or issues that you have been having with specific file formats. Using the same format used for the proposals collection process, we are looking for issues to be identified, with comments and feedback from other stakeholder members where similar issues have been experienced. This will help us to build a catalogue of issues that will direct focus for certain stages of the DROID 5.0 development.

If you have a file exemplifying a problematic format, free from copyright issues, then please forward it to [log in to unmask]. Attach it to the email and provide as much information about it as possible, such as the authoring software and version. We would like to place these files in a publicly available test-suite at the end of development for future testing purposes. If you have issues with the file being released publicly, please make this clear in your email and we will make sure that the file is disposed of after DROID 5.0 development and testing has completed.

The issues collection process will run until mid-November.

Please note, the proposals collection process from the first stage of consultation has now closed. You can still contribute to this part of the wiki; we are very interested in any feedback you have, however, we cannot now guarantee we can take account of your contributions for this next round of development. The URL to access the proposals catalogue is: http://droid5.yourwiki.net/wiki/DROID_5.0:_Proposals

Once again, thank you for your input. We look forward to providing more feedback to stakeholders and hearing more from you over the coming months as the DROID 5.0 development progresses.

Kind Regards,

Craig Alexander Moore
