Hi Isabel,
Both these quotes are inspiring....Here are the reference source.
‘Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other
time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.’
Barack Obama ( Feb 5. 2008)
I
found this in the newspaper –Hindustan Times, 21.1.2009, p. 10 and 11
“You are qualified simply with regards to action, never with regards
to its result.
Do your duty to the
best of your ability, O Arjuna, having abandoned attachment,
undertake action…evenly disposed as to their success or failure”
(Bhagavad Gita, 2:47-48)
This is from the Bhagvad Gita (a part of the
Epic Mahabharat ) Bhagvad Gita: is a great philosophical work that played the
same role in the history of
I had drawn on the translation from
The Bhagavad Gita (v 2:47-48) [online] http://www.sarvadharm.org/sivaloka/gita
chapter 2.htm 2005.
BUT
you can
find plenty similar translation if you Google-----
Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 2: verse 47-48

Hello again Swaroop. I loved your quotes and wondered if you would mind sending me the original reference source that I may use these quotes when presenting work to students.

Dear Swaroop
I truly admire what you are trying to do as it will make such a difference to generations if you can even get the community considering change, particularly child marraige. Positive thoughts are with you.

Dear Swaroop
This sounds fabulous. I can't wait to see the pictures!
I hope it all goes well and all my best wishes for you all.
How will you go about trying to eliminate child marriage? I appreciate this could be very difficult to persuade people that long held traditions are no longer valid and they should look at changing the way they behave. Will you start with the children, or the adults?
I am interested in the approach as the principles and approach may have relevance to some of what we are trying to do, in that attempting to change perceptions and traditions which no longer serve for the best is a tough job!
love Karen

Hi Swaroop (and all). Let's see if we can find an inclusional way in which we can all feel our pooling of energy and understandings on the 14th November, no matter how our geographical locations might seem to separate us. For example Swaroop, you might be able to send us details of the work you are presently doing with young people in Mumbai and perhaps some of the film of your work in Gujurat. I know that Marian and Shaun will be in Australia in November and it could be that they can share what they are doing so that we can recognise and feel close to what everyone is doing in their different locations. Do let's work on how to pool our energies and understandings in a sustained conversation that could help to constitute a collaborative enquiry. Branko is working on a short video of the conference (28-30) on Creativity with teachers and young people in Croatia, and it might be that this will help us to pool our energies and understandings. Looking forward to worki! ng on this with everyone.
Moira is now working as an associate lecturer with the Open University on a programme on Education For Development and it might be that Moira will share some of her understandings from her experience of sustaining educational conversations. I think Ram's experience as an international consultant will also be invaluable.
Love Jack.

Dear All,
I should like to thank those of you who replied to my email and paper about the proposed Research & Teaching Centre for the Child and Family - I received some wonderful and confirmatory responses!
Amongst these was an offer from CARN (Collaborative Action Research Network) to support a day with Jack Whitehead and myself, when we could explore the question "How do we integrate research and practice to improve the wellbeing of children and young people?"
It really doesn't matter what interest you have in relation to children's lives - education, care, health, music, creative arts, religion / spirituality ................... - our challenge is for each of us to stay true to our individual interests, experience and passions, whilst connecting with others in their commitment to improving the quality of children's lives.
I have attached a copy of the CARN flyer - and also my original paper, for those of you wishing to be reminded of the proposal which led to my asking whether you would you be interested in gathering together for a day's exploratory dialogue!!
Please do let me know if you are interested in joining us for the day - I look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Joan
