UKSG are pleased to announce that booking is now open for our Autumn
seminar:

Let’s not waste a crisis:

how libraries, publishers and other stakeholders are responding to hard
times

Wednesday 18 November 2009

The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, London

For the last year or more the world has been reeling from the impact of the
global financial crisis quickly followed by a good old-fashioned recession.
Although there are signs that in some countries the formal recession is
coming to an end, at least for now, the effects of this shock to the world
economy have already been felt in the scholarly communications world, and
are likely to continue, in many countries, for the next few years.

This one-day seminar, organised by UKSG, considers first library budget
cuts, together with the coping mechanisms required to face this situation.
More positively, speakers from different parts of the community outline the
opportunities for innovation provided, perhaps hastened, by the extremely
challenging financial situation.

An impressive range of speakers ensures that attendance at this seminar will
be essential for all those grappling with finances, but who are at the same
time determined to keep moving forward and taking advantage of the many
exciting developments that continue to arise in our community.
