The technical sessions will take place June 15-17, with June 14 and18 devoted to workshops and tutorials. The conference will be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, host to the recent G-20 summit and rated the USA?s most livable city by The Economist. Just prior to ITS 2010, the Third International Conference on Educational Data Mining (EDM 2010) will also take place in Pittsburgh. See http://educationaldatamining.org/EDM2010. The ITS 2010 conference is part of an on-going bi-annual series of top-flight international conferences on the use of advanced educational technologies that are adaptive to users or groups of users. These highly interdisciplinary conferences bring together researchers in the learning sciences, computer science, cognitive or educational psychology, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and linguistics. The theme of the ITS 2010 conference is Bridges to Learning, a theme that connects the scientific content of the conference and the geography of the city. The conference will address the use of advanced technologies as bridges for learners and facilitators to robust learning outcomes. It will encompass all aspects of learning with advanced technologies, including cognitive, social, affective, and motivational aspects. The conference will address the design, development, use, and evaluation of advanced educational systems in a wide variety of contexts, as well as the mining of data about student learning generated by such systems. Papers describing empirical studies are particularly encouraged.
