Listening to families: learning & outcomes from the national
trust’s
Date: Thursday 29th
October 2009
Time: 09:45 –
16:45
Venue: MLA London,
4th Floor,
This is an event for anyone working in an organisation currently running
family learning activities or who are hoping to plan future family learning
activities.
Since 2006
The National Trust has been running the London Voice’s Project in order
to connect local families with their nearest National Trust property. The
project is finishing at the end of October 2009 and The National Trust and MLA
London have collaborated to facilitate a one day training event on family
learning to share the knowledge and experience gained during this extremely successful
project.
Using the
project as a base to present best practice and help identify the challenges and
success points in delivering family learning projects, this one day course will
explore how to connect with this key audience for the heritage sector. The
course will include a mixture of case studies, presentations, and practical
activities focusing on engaging with family audiences from marketing through to
creative programming and evaluation.
By the end of the day participants will have developed their
understanding of:
·
Principles: the main
principles for effective engagement with family audiences.
·
Ethos: how to create a family
friendly ethos in your organisation
·
Marketing: how to use outreach
as an effective marketing tool for family visitors
·
Sustainability: how to sustain
relationships with local family audiences
·
Interpretation: how to develop
new interpretation through family participation
·
Generic Learning Outcomes: how to apply the GLO framework to
develop your own feedback mechanisms for family activities
Trainer:

National Trust
