Cathie Marsh Memorial Lecture 17th November 2009 5pm-7pm Royal Statistical Society 12 Errol Street, London EC1Y 8LX Understanding non-response and reducing non-response bias The 2009 RSS/SRA Cathie Marsh Memorial Lecture brings together speakers to discuss the latest research and thinking on this fundamental aspect of social survey research. The lecture will draw on the latest findings from the ESRC Survey Design and Measurement Initiative as well as wider thinking on survey non-response. The lecture will be highly relevant for research practitioners and those who commission survey-based research. The Lecture will be chaired by Ceridwen Roberts, Senior Research Fellow, University of Oxford. We are delighted to announce the following key speakers: Peter Lynn, Professor of Survey Methodology, University of Essex, will provide an overview of the topic in his discussion entitled "Combating Non-Response Bias: Recent trends and current research" Ian Plewis, Professor of Social Statistics, University of Manchester, will focus in on the topic of "Non-response in large longitudinal studies: prevention, prediction and treatment" The lecture will be followed by a complimentary drinks receptions.
