Dear friends and colleagues: We would like to invite you to submit an abstract to the Conference and Workshop on Innovations in Pricing of Transportation Systems* to be held on May 13 and 14, 2010 at the Royal Plaza in the Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando, Florida. The focus of this conference and workshop is on innovative market-based approaches, perhaps in combinations with other strategies, to encourage a more efficient use of transportation systems and to devise better financing schemes for improving or enhancing these systems. The main purpose is to bring together practitioners, experts, and researchers from various transportation agencies and background (e.g., economics, transportation, civil engineering, operations research, industrial engineering, urban planning, social science, etc.) to discuss and share innovative ideas in pricing of transportation systems. Topics of interest include, but not limited to, the following: Airport pricing, Area-based pricing, Auction-based pricing, Behavioral responses to pricing, Congestion options, Cordon pricing, Costs and benefits of pricing, Cross-subsidization, Dynamic pricing, Equity in pricing, First-best pricing, Freight pricing and comprehensive policies, Managed lanes, Nonlinear pricing, Parking management, Pricing of transit systems, Public acceptability, Public-private partnerships, Revenue distribution, Second-best pricing, Subsidies and incentives, Time-of-day pricing, Variable pricing, Vehicle-mile- travel (VMT) based charge, Vehicle-mile-travel (VMT) insurance, Welfare and distributional effects of pricing Publications: Selected papers from this conference and workshop will be invited to submit for possible publications in special issues on pricing in Network and Spatial Economics. Abstract Submissions: Interested speakers should submit an abstract of no longer than 500 words online by January 31, 2010 at the conference website below.
