ANNOUNCEMENTS:

PhD Reviews - New Series of articles!

Global Health Action has initiated a new series of articles in which
recently graduated PhD students review their theses.

PhD theses emanating from the Scandinavian countries include a
synthesising´'cover story' of some 40-80 pages, together with a series of
3 to 5 peer-reviewed articles. Good cover stories are often excellent
state-of-the-art summaries of a research field worthy of publication in a
shorter format. A Scandinavian PhD thesis defence is a public academic
event in which the respondent is challenged by an opponent, whose task is
to elucidate the strengths and weaknesses of the thesis for the examination
board. Thus we are inviting opponents to contribute Commentaries to be
published jointly with the respondents’ Reviews.

We look to expand this series to other countries and invite new and
interested PhDs to contact the editorial team.

Heat & Health Series in 2009!

Guest Editors: Tord Kjellstrom & Rainer Sauerborn

A critical issue facing populations in low and middle-income  countries is
the impact climate change has upon the global burden of disease. Shifts in
global temperatures lead to both direct health issues such as heat exposure
and to indirect health challenges resulting from climate-related changes to
disease-carrying insect populations, land-use possibilities, etc.

Global Health Action will direct attention to the multi-faceted issues of
climate change as they impact upon global health, by presenting a series of
articles written by leading experts in relevant fields.
