NATIONAL CATALOGUING UNIT FOR THE ARCHIVES OF CONTEMPORARY SCIENTISTS

PRELIMINARY ANNOUNCEMENT: NEW FORMAT AND RESIDENCE

With the  subject of Archives Awareness 2010 being Scientific Archives, the 2009 Archives Awareness Day Conference  is an ideal event at which to announce that:

The NCUACS is to be reconstituted as Scientific Archives @ the Science Museum and the unit will be based at the Science Museum site at Wroughton, Swindon.

Following the recent announcement of withdrawal of support by the University of Bath, the NCUACS is to be restructured and associated with the Science Museum Library and Archives.

The facilitators of the restructuring have been Imperial College Archivist Anne Barrett and Imperial College Rector, Sir Roy Anderson; the Director of the Science Museum Professor Chris Rapley and Rupert Williams Head of the Science Museum Library and Archives, and Rene Kinzett of the National Council on Archives.

All parties involved see this as a great opportunity to develop the work of the unit for the future of scientific archives, in a close association with a national scientific institution.

Further announcements will be made about the structure, relocation and work of the Scientific Archives as early as possible.Until then any essential queries should be addressed to: [log in to unmask]
