Greetings all, I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good studies of excommunication and interdict, in theory and practice (not just the theology). I'd be especially interested in how seriously they were taken and how effective they were. What was life like in England, for example, when the country was put under interdict? I don't recall ever reading that this caused any sort of reaction against King John. Meg
