With apologies for cross-posting International colloquium ‘The German Masculine and “the Other”’ 31 October 2009, University of Edinburgh David Hume Tower, Conference Room George Square Edinburgh EH8 9JX Organiser: Frauke Matthes The colloquium gives an account of the manifestations of masculinity in the German literary and cultural imagination as a result of cultural exchange and interaction as well as shifting gender perceptions throughout history. The contributions focus on the interrelation between masculinity, ethnicity, and ‘deviancy’ for the construction of a national and cultural self.
